Pivot Doors

A single oversized leaf that turns on a concealed pivot. The most architectural way to enter a home.

96"42"PIVOTBLACKENED STEEL

A pivot door is an oversized door that rotates on concealed pivot hardware set into the floor and header instead of edge hinges, allowing far taller and wider openings than a conventional hinged door. It is the entrance you remember, a leaf of real scale whose weight disappears the moment you touch it.

We draw each pivot to your opening: the proportion of the panel, the width of the steel sightlines, the placement of glass and the hardware you reach for every day. The frame is welded, squared, and finished by hand in Mod Metal Doors' Central Texas shop, then set and tuned on site so a door of real mass moves with one finger.

Used as a front entry, a courtyard threshold, or a statement interior passage, the pivot is the product clients ask for by name, the one most worth seeing in person.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a custom pivot door take to build?

Mod Metal Doors typically fabricates a custom pivot door in 4–6 weeks, depending on complexity, after CAD shop drawings are approved. Because every door is welded and finished in the company's own Central Texas shop, the lead time is controlled in-house rather than dependent on imports. Installation is then scheduled with the same team that built the door.

How is a pivot door different from a hinged door?

A hinged door swings from hardware at its edge, while a pivot door rotates on a concealed pivot set into the floor and header. Moving the rotation point in from the edge lets a pivot door be built far taller, wider, and heavier than a hinged door while still opening with light effort.

Can a pivot door be used as an interior door?

Yes. A steel pivot door works as a statement interior passage as well as a front entry or courtyard threshold. Interior pivot doors can carry even slimmer steel profiles and larger glass because they do not need to seal against the weather.

Do you install pivot doors throughout Texas?

Yes. Every pivot door is designed and built in Mod Metal Doors' Central Texas shop and installed statewide, serving Austin, the Hill Country, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston. The same team that fabricates the door sets and tunes it on site.
